Kamilah Salim, a freshman at West Torrance High in California, won the girls championship race by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 18:25.3 at the Desert Twilight Festival at Toka Sticks Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz. Salim helped West Torrance place second overall behind Durango High of Colorado by a 125-165 margin.
